votingRemember when WasteWatch brought to your attention the half-a-million-dollar price-tag for the Australian Electoral Commission’s WA Senate mistake?

It turns out that price-tag wasn’t quite correct. Mea culpa.

It’s higher.

The AEC has recently signed two more contracts (here and here) for market research for a “possible WA Senate election.”

These two contracts add another $209,000 to the overall cost of the AEC’s error.

Given that the recent by-election in Kevin Rudd’s old seat of Griffith cost the Australian taxpayer over $250,000, the final cost of the AEC’s WA mistake could be over $1 million.
